I'm moving more freely than most people of my age
At the age of 65, I had a replacement hip operation. Now, nearly ten years later, due to Pilates, I am walking better than I was before my hip started to play up, and I am moving more freely than most people of my age. Developing a stoop is one of the first signs of ageing, and the core stability taught in my Plates classes helps me to keep an upright posture, while a tendency for stiffness in the joints is also kept away. I hope that I can keep going for many years yet with the help of Pilates.
My whole body shape has changed
As an ex-professional dancer, I have often found it hard to find a body conditioning method which complements my previous training whilst challenging my body. Ali’s GYROTONIC® sessions really focus on elongating and strengthening the whole body using movements which are a joy to perform. The circular nature of the movements appeal to my sense of dance and performance whilst the resistance provided by the bands and pulleys strengthen and tone from the core outwards. Ali’s Pilates classes are the most engaging I have ever attended. Her knowledge of anatomy and physiology is second to none and she works really hard to tailor exercises and movements to match individual needs. There is a constant focus on engaging the core whilst working to elongate muscles. Having had two children in rather quick succession, my core was very weak, however the combination of GYROTONIC® and Pilates has given me strength in my centre which I didn’t think would ever be possible to achieve. My whole body shape has changed and I only wish I had found gyro and Pilates during my vocational training as it strengthens and tones the body like nothing else!

It's really making a difference
Since I started Pilates and GYROTONIC® classes with Ali about 3 years ago ,I have been amazed at how much progress I have made – given that I am 76 years old and have more than a few spinal and muscular problems. Everyone tells me how important it is to keep my movement going, and in Ali I have found someone who really understands my individual problems and needs. Thanks to her, there has been a marked improvement to my chronic sciatica. She is also good at explaining the little things I can do on my own to help make life easier. The results have been amazing!
Having been plagued with regular knee and lower leg stress injuries I decided to give body control pilates a go to help my troubles. The results have been amazing, since taking up Pilates with Ali I was able to complete a whole season without injury, this was a first. Due to my height (6’6′) both my posture and flexibility were also in need of great improvements, Ali has been able to help me considerably with both these areas. On top of all the sporting benefits I have received, pilates has made me far more self aware of how to manage and move my body, little things such as sitting correctly at work or how to stand up when brushing my teeth. Ali and the Innerspace team have been a complete breath of fresh air to my training, this has been helped by the hard work, variety and fun of the pilates sessions.
My body is so much stronger
Ali is a superb pilates teacher. She really understands pilates and what each person’s body is capable of. Her lessons are fun, inspiring and really make a difference. My body is so much stronger, my legs feel longer and slimmer, my posture has improved and my headaches and back ache have gone!
It's really making a difference
I would like to say how much I’m enjoying my Pilates with you Ali. In the few weeks that I have been in your class I feel it is really making a difference to the strength in my back and core. I have also had a lot of shoulder problems and have noticed such an improvement. My physio is very impressed! I love your way of teaching as you are so focused on your clients throughout every session and I always know you will correct anything that I’m not doing correctly. I have done a lot of Pilates but this is a totally different experience and you make it such a great 75 minutes. Thanks for all your help.
